The story behind Marmax Realty

My name is Maria, and I took a remarkable path before founding Marmax Realty in Alicante. Born in Uruguay, raised in the Netherlands, and with nearly 30 years of professional experience in Shanghai, I bring an international background that makes my work as a real estate advisor truly unique.

In 2017 I deliberately chose Alicante: a Mediterranean city that combines warmth, culture, and accessibility. Here I founded Marmax Realty, named after myself and my son Max. Our office specialises in New Build projects along the Costa Blanca, but we also assist clients looking for existing homes.

What sets us apart? Transparency, personal guidance, and international expertise. The real estate market in Spain works differently than in the Netherlands or Belgium: there is no separate buying agent, and when buying New Build Properties buyers do not pay a commission – it is always covered by the developer. We guide our clients through the whole buying process; from choosing the right region, arranging viewings, guidance on legal matters and attending notary meeting for key handover. Even after the sale has been finalised we remain available during the after-sale period.

Thanks to our international network, we work with clients from the Netherlands, Poland, Scandinavia, France, and even China. For me, real estate is not about quick deals, but about building relationships and truly helping people start a new life in Spain.
